Terms of service

Who you contract with
Your contract for the service itself (account, content license, acceptable use) is with Jannis Willi Gramatte, the provider identified in the imprint; contact: hello@spotyourstartup.com. Paid subscriptions are purchased from Paddle as merchant of record (see Payments). You must be 18 or older, or act with your legal guardian's consent, to create an account or subscribe.
The service
SpotYourStartup is a subscription library of researched startup ideas: nine-section breakdowns, an Opportunity Score built from four signals, personal fit scores, and Scout, an AI assistant. Plans and their limits are described on the pricing page; the free Explorer tier exists so you can judge the quality bar before paying.
Payments - Paddle as merchant of record
Paid subscriptions are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd as merchant of record. Paddle is the counterparty for the purchase: it processes payment, issues invoices, handles VAT/sales tax and applies its consumer terms alongside these. Plan changes, invoices and cancellation are self-service in your billing settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
EU and UK consumers have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for the purchase. It is exercised toward Paddle as the seller - through the links in your Paddle receipt or the billing portal; a mail to hello@spotyourstartup.com works too and we pass it on. Where you request immediate access to the digital service, the withdrawal right can expire early once the service is fully provided (§ 356 Abs. 5 BGB). The refund policy is published separately, preserves these statutory rights and is more generous than the legal minimum.
Your account
- You need a verified email address; keep your credentials to yourself and tell us about any compromise.
- One account per person; plans are personal and not for shared or team use unless the plan says so.
- You can delete your account at any time in account settings (14-day grace window).
Content and what you may do with it
The library content (breakdowns, scores, signals, sources) is our editorial work. Your subscription grants a personal, non-transferable license to read it and to use it in building your own ventures - including exporting breakdowns into your own tools. What it does not grant: republishing, reselling, scraping the library, or building a competing database from it.
No advice, no guarantees
Breakdowns and scores are researched editorial opinions, not investment, legal or business advice, and not a prediction that any idea will succeed. Scout's answers are AI-generated and can be wrong; they are marked as such. Decisions - and their outcomes - are yours.
Acceptable use
- No attempts to circumvent plan limits, gating or AI quotas.
- No automated scraping or bulk extraction beyond the built-in export.
- No abusive load, probing or interference with the service or other users.
Availability, changes, termination
We operate the service with reasonable care but do not promise uninterrupted availability. The library changes weekly by design; scores move when the world does. We may update these terms only with advance notice appropriate to the change; material changes are announced by email, apply prospectively, and if you do not accept a material change you may terminate at the end of the current billing period. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, after warning where proportionate.
Liability and law
We are liable without limit for intent, gross negligence and injury to life, body or health; for simple negligence only for breach of essential contractual duties and capped at the foreseeable, contract-typical damage. German law applies; if you are a consumer, the mandatory protections of your country of residence remain untouched. Your statutory warranty rights for digital products (§§ 327 ff. BGB), including the update obligation, are not limited by anything in these terms.
